JANUARY 6-27, 2013

Beginning 6:00 pm Sunday, January 6th and ending at 6:00 pm Sunday January 26th

There is nothing God loves more than keeping his promises, answering prayers, performing miracles and fulfilling dreams!  That is who He is!  If your prayers aren’t impossible to you, they are insulting to God.  Why?  Because they don’t require divine intervention.

Prayers are the best predictors of your spiritual future.  Who you become is determined by how you pray.  Bold prayers honor God, and God honors bold prayers – ultimately, the transcript of your prayers becomes the script of your life.  If you believe God can do it, you will pray big, audacious prayers.  His power will only be exercised in response to prayer. If you don’t pray, it won’t happen.

God asked Moses “is there a limit to my power?”  God is bigger than your problem or biggest dream!  If God knows no limits then neither should our prayers.  With God, it’s never an issue of “can He?” –  it is only “will He?”  And while you don’t know if He will, you know He can.  And because you know He can, this week you can pray with Holy confidence.

Let’s pray prayers this week that will change the course of this church, this city and our lives.

Pray with confidence in the Word for the next 21 days,
… Knowing God loves you,
And He will answer your prayers.

Why begin the year with an extended fast?

First, by doing so you set the course for the rest of the year.  Just as beginning your day with prayer set’s the course for the rest of the day.

Secondly, you and your family will be blessed because you put God first by fasting.  When you fast and pray, you release the principle found in Matthew 6:33, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Thirdly, fasting is powerful. Fasting brings one into a deeper, more intimate, and powerful relationship with the Lord. – Psalms 42

In order to become sensitive to the voice of God in prayer, we submit ourselves to fasting.  Fasting is the secret key that unlocks heaven’s door and slams shut the gates of hell.  The discipline of fasting releases the anointing, the favor, and the blessing of God in the life of a Christian.  Every major Bible character fasted.  “Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled.” Jesus told the disciples “this only happens because of prayer and fasting” Mathew 17:21

Biblical fasting is refraining from food for a spiritual purpose.  In our world we have many appetites.  We may also fast things other than food thereby bringing ourselves into subjection to the Spirit in the same manner.

If not now, when? – If not you, who?

Choose a fast… you will be changed!

Types of Fast:

  • Water Only Fast: drink water but eat no food.  This can last anywhere from one meal to whatever you choose.
  • Absolute Fast: no food, no water.  This fast is extreme and should be done for very short periods of time.
  • Partial Fast: giving up particular food and drink for an extended period of time. Example is Daniel.  He asked for only fruits, vegetables and water.
  • Juice Fast: give up eating solid food; drink fruit and vegetable juices.
  • Sundown Fast: eat one meal a day after sundown.
  • Idols Fast: not all fasts involve food.  Some people cannot go without food due to medical reasons.  Consider… Internet, books, hobbies social networking, video games, TV non-Christian music … etc.

Everyone can give up something Internet, books, hobbies, social networking, video games, TV, non-Christian music…etc.
